L’invincibile
Qual’è il suono di una mano sola che applaude?
action cinema, première
L’invincibile introduces the cycle of motions that ZAPRUDERfilmmakersgroup dedicates to the mythical figure of Hercules. The project begins with Live Arts Week and develops through a series of shooting sets and installations between documentary and fiction, which celebrate the virtue of action and the non-contemplative nature of the hero. ‘What is the sound of one hand clapping’ recites the transcription of a public event which took place in the past. Invincible introduces some of the elements that make up the hero’s existence: always struggling with primordial monsters or wild beasts in need of taming. A choir will accompany his deeds. Here the story, the characters and the setting are ‘modules’ of thought; they move in the uncertainty of their paradoxical nature, not meant to be understood by the intellect, but only by direct experience. Memento fati of the anthropological document and the ancient quote, ultimate expression of the real. The invincible has a programme, an ideal, that does not subscribe to the doctrine of linear time where every instant is crushed by the one that follows it. It offers us an interpretation which has an absolute value, not a veritas but one invincible image of the world.

ZAPRUDERfilmmakersgroup, founded in 2000, is a collective of italian independent filmakers (David Zamagni, Nadia Ranocchi, Monaldo Moretti) devoted to the unusual practice of the production of out of format films. The refined artisan quality of Zapruder leads to a series of devices and performative environments which stand for disembodied theatre and embodied cinema. In parallel to a frequent participation to main European festivals of New Cinema and Experimental theatre, Zapruder collaborates with italian theatre companies such as Fanny & Alexander, Romeo Castellucci/Societas Raffaello Sanzio and Motus. Known for their 3D and steroscopic productions, they have premiered in festivals and institutions such as Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, Rotterdam film Festival, Festival del cinema di Roma, Milano Film Festival, Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage, Biennale de l’image en mouvement Geneve, Steirischer Herbst Graz, Centre Pompidou Paris, Transmediale Berlin, Netmage Bologna, Santarcangelo Festival, Art Fall Ferrara, PAC Milan.
